When Will You Need Your PMP Certification?

It is fair to mention that if you know what PMP stands for, Project Management Professional Certification, then you are already either certified or you just may need to be certified to advance your career.

Are you one of those unfortunate enough to have had your career stalled, or even ended because you lack the PMP certification? Is now the time to begin to pick and choose where and how to gain your PMP Certification?

Do you need to convert your project management capability into a true competitive advantage that will allow you to further your career goals? As you probably already know, Project Management Professional Certification is a job requirement with many firms.

If you need some background information that will help you understand PMP let’s start with this simple description:

Project Management Professional (PMP) is an internationally recognized professional designation offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). There are currently 658,523 active PMP certified individuals and 274 chartered chapters across 204 countries and territories worldwide. The certification exam is based on the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). Other requirements include a bachelor’s degree, at least 4,500 hours of experience leading and directing projects, and 35 hours of formal project management education. A candidate who passes the exam and meets the other professional requirements is awarded the PMP certification.

How does getting your PMP Certification rank with those that follow IT careers? Government, commercial and other organizations employ PMP certified project managers in an attempt to improve the success rate of projects in all areas of knowledge, by applying a standardized and evolving set of project management principles as contained in PMI’s PMBOK Guide.

In December 2005, the PMP credential was tied for fourth place in CertCities.com’s 10 Hottest Certifications for 2006, and in December 2008, it was number 7 of ZDNet’s 10 best IT certifications. More recently, in 2012 and 2013, the PMP credential has been ranked as a top certification by CIO and Global Knowledge.

For 2014, the PMP certification was rated #1 most valuable by IT Career Finder in their “Top 10 Highest Paying IT Certifications for 2014” Outside of IT, the PMP ranked #5 with Global Knowledge “15 Top-Paying Certifications for 2014”, and #8 with Careerealism “Top 10 Professional Certifications For A Bright Future”

Our PMP Classroom Prep Course has been prepared by PMstudy – a global leader in PMP certification training which has enabled about 200,000 students to succeed at a rate of 98.7%. Learn To Earn Through Certifications

College degrees no longer guarantee gainful positions. In many parts of the world, graduate unemployment is hitting the crisis level. While data from the past decades shows that higher education has paid off well for most people, the rapidly changing labor market and the accelerating rise in tuition cause many to question the return on investment for a college education. Many argue that higher education is more about building students’ soul than training job skills. However, if college fails to prepare students for their first jobs, is it worth it anymore?

What is the relevance of a college education in today’s society? Do we need to redesign it to make it truly worthwhile for students? Experts share their views.

After all these years of investing in higher education, across all governments around the world, many are wondering: how did we reach this stage? Is anyone to blame? Is this a generational issue? Do employers have the right expectations? How can this be fixed?

The more challenging question seems to be, who should fix this? Whose responsibility is it to equip learners for the job market? Many would say universities – that is, after all, why we fund these institutions. Some think this is the employers’ responsibility – they are the ones who benefit commercially from having well trained staff. Others look at the students themselves; surely it is their responsibility to ensure their own employability.

The proper certification can make all the difference between landing a job or not being considered for it at all. In others, it’s not really useful and most hiring managers will look for experience or skill over a set of letters after your name. If you can’t tell, it’s not cut and dried, and the answer is a little complicated. Let’s cut through the fog and help you understand when certs are really valuable and when they’re just nice to have.

Some professional certifications require that you study hard and pass a test, others require that you have years of experience in a specific field before you can even apply to be considered. Before you decide that maybe getting a certification is your ticket to a career jump or a promotion, you need to determine whether or not the types of certifications that will get you ahead in your field are the ones that require skills, experience, or just a few classes.

How to Re-enter the Job Market After A Long Absence

There are all sorts of reasons for being out of work – starting a family, helping care for a sick parent, just needing a break, and of course, losing a job. No matter your reasons for being unemployed, when you are thinking about re-entering the workforce the job search process can seen daunting. If you’ve been out of employment for a period of time, there are several specific dos and don’ts for re-entering the workforce.

The labor market has been showing signs of a stable recovery as employers continued to add jobs in May, but job seekers with a year or more of unemployment on their resume are still facing a tough battle to getting hired.

Whether it was by choice or a layoff, job seekers looking to re-enter the job market need to learn how to best sell and market themselves to prove to hiring managers they are still valuable and relevant.

Sometimes it’s more of a sales job to convince someone you are up to speed and keeping up with the industry. It can be a little bit more challenging. You need someone to be open to the idea that you still have something to contribute.

Parents who took time off to raise children are often overwhelmed with the idea of leaving the house and the job-searching process. After all, they have to contend with gaps in their resume and concerns that they may not be current on the latest industry trends and skills. To combat this, expert suggest doing volunteer work or consulting to highlights talents and expertise.

Know Where to Look

Applying for jobs with family-friendly companies may also reduce anxiety about reentering the workforce. There are many online resources that rank and show companies’ culture and values. “Target any businesses that have earned recognition for work/life balance,” suggests Skillings.

Job hunters with resume gaps should also look at small and medium-sized businesses. Skillings says larger corporations tend to shy away from hiring people with gap years, but adds smaller companies are more likely to overlook any breaks as long as the right skills and enthusiasm were present.

The interview process is always nerve-racking, but even more so for those who haven’t put on a business suit in a couple years. But experts say job seekers need just one thing: confidence.

Start Networking

Networking is a key element of getting back into the workforce, and don’t be afraid to solicit tips and connections from family, friends and former co-workers.

Be sure to create an online profile that includes a LinkedIn page, and join career-related industry groups.

Even Long Term Employees May Need To Re-enter The Job Market

If you think only stay at home moms may need to re-enter the job market you have never been laid off. If you have been in your current job for 10 years or more, you might feel a bit out of your depth when it comes to looking for a new job. Maybe you’re going for a promotion, switching to a different organization or changing career altogether.

And you’ll probably find that the recruitment landscape has changed dramatically. The way we present and market ourselves to potential recruiters, where we find vacancies, even the way we approach employers is different. So if you want to move on from your position, it could be time to update your job-hunting toolkit.

It has become much more common in recent years for people to have a break at some stage in their career. These can be enforced, due to medical reasons, or perhaps you have taken time out for personal family reasons. There are also people who find themselves unemployed or having suffered redundancy.

In some industries, leading corporate firms actually insist that their top people take some time out and refresh themselves every once in a while. Taking a sabbatical can be a great way to reinvigorate yourself and taking a step back from the daily grind of work can often you give you fresh impetus.

The first thing to do when you are looking to come back into the job market is to spend some time to do your research. The world tends to move at a relentless pace and it is vital to get up to speed as quickly as possible. Find out if working practices have changed and what skills and expertise will be expected of you. If you are one of those people who are out of work, then I would strongly recommend taking some sort of certification course, something which tells future employers that you haven’t stagnated in your time away – in fact you have actually gained new and important skills.

Combat ageism by meeting people in person versus networking online. If you project energy and enthusiasm, you’ll debunk preconceived notions that employers may have had about you based on your age (or the graduation date on your resume).

Your new education can give you a leg up on your competition either in a freelance or on as a gem on your resume.

Use Certification To Help Re-enter The Job Market

Many people, for whatever reason, find themselves with a need to re-enter the job market. While this is normally thought of as being a solely female problem it happens to the male population as well. You could have worked in the corporate world for many years and gone out on your own to work on your very own business. After a number of years you want to re-enter the corporate job market and find that the HR departments are not as welcoming as you had hoped.

At some point, you’ll be required to answer the question, “What have you been doing?” The question is really asking, “Why haven’t you been working?”

It’s important to remember that your goal here is not to defend your absence. Rather, you need to frame this time in your life so that it: 1) makes sense to a potential employer, 2) provides some perspective with regard to where you are today and what you have to offer for the future, and 3) becomes a non-issue.

You know you have something valuable to contribute. Every day you are using skills, real skills, valuable skills. And now it’s your job to identify what these skills are and how they may benefit a potential employer.

Grab a pad of paper and pen or pencil. Start writing down every skill you possess that you can think of. To help you get started, the following is a list of skills that are valuable within most employment positions, many of which are skills you probably already possess.

It makes your talking points much more relatable and valuable if you have current certifications that relate directly to the job requirements. When you have current certifications the recruiter knows your skills current and up to date. Reinventing yourself means change with a twist, with a new face, a new outlook on life or a new career. Reinvention is the process by which you take everything you are and everything you’ve learned, and switch direction to head off on a new path. Sometimes it’s a fork in your road: you stay in the same field, but fill a new capacity, or you stay with your company but take on a completely different role. Sometimes, however, you take a detour onto a brand new highway by entering a totally new line of work.

How Digital Marketing Is Changing The World

A revolution of marketing is underway as we spend more time using, living with, our smartphones, tablets and laptops. The challenge for brands is to connect with customers through all these devices in real time and create campaigns that work across social media, display advertising and e-commerce.

The real-time conversations brands have with people as they interact with websites and mobile apps has changed the nature of marketing. The modern-day marketing department needs to combine the creative side of the discipline – using powerful narratives to tap into people’s wishes and aspirations – with the technical side of data, digital engineering and analytics. The two areas do not always sit easily together. Getting creative marketers to work alongside technical staff can be a huge challenge.
With Leap University you will have the opportunity to combine the tools and techniques obtained through all the courses in different specializations. Use certifications to advance your career.

In a blink of an eye, the marketing strategy you’ve been using could become outdated. That’s why it’s important to know exactly what changes are happening now and how those changes are affecting you and your company.

Responsive web design is popular in the digital marketing world, and the shift towards small-screen optimization is continually evolving. Perhaps most important of these advancements is the ability to seamlessly move from a call to action in an email to the landing page without slow loading times or distorted content.

Both of these data sets are great for marketers. Thanks to the ability to collect consumer information, even without their knowledge, marketers have the knowledge necessary to make changes to their content, products, and services in order to improve the overall consumer and commercial experience.

Studies show that the average page-load speed for retail websites today is seven seconds, which is four seconds above the ideal speed. The future shows a dire need for faster loading times in order to stay ahead of the competition. The difference is costing retailers billions. As a result, faster loading times are becoming a necessity.

Furthermore, there is a greater need for faster turnaround and immediate service in commercial business. Because of the convenience technology creates in every field, consumers are no longer willing to wait for their goods and services. If you don’t have the lightening-quick speed they want, they’ll go somewhere else.

Are you ready for the changes that are here now and going to ramp up as the future unfolds?

Digital Marketing and Social Media

Digitization is revolutionizing marketing strategy. From tablets and big data to new customer monitoring tools and the global emergence of social networking, recent technology has revolutionized the modes of communication through which businesses and brands engage with consumers. Our certification courses are designed to help executives understand the new rules of marketing in the digital age, covering a range of topics that include search marketing, social network marketing and analytics, predictive modeling, mobile advertising and commerce, CRM strategy, and digital advertising.

New digital technologies have fundamentally reshaped marketing theory and practice the last decade alone. Technology has changed the modes of communication through which firms engage with consumers. Moore’s law has made the storage and analysis of consumer data scalable, creating opportunities for fine-grained behavioral analytics. New monitoring tools have fostered precise and personalized customer relationship management practices. The rise of mobile phones and tablets has enabled location based messaging and reciprocal communication. The ubiquity of video content has promulgated rich, native advertising programs. The global emergence of social networking has enabled networked based predictive modeling and new forms of targeting and referral strategies based on the preferences of consumers’ peers. And finally, new social media have brought all of this onto the public stage, with word-of-mouth conversations driving brand awareness and brand loyalty, and user-generated content on review and ratings sites making or breaking demand for products or services.

Our course provides a detailed, applied perspective on the theory and practice of digital marketing and social media in the 21st century. We will cover concepts such as the difference between earned and paid media, predictive modeling for ad targeting and customer relationship management, measuring, viral product design, native advertising, and engaging the multichannel experience. Throughout the course we will specifically stress the theory and practice of randomized experimentation, AB testing and the importance of causal inference for marketing strategy.

We look at Digital Marketing including all marketing activities that use electronic devices connected to the Internet to engage with customers (e.g., computers, tablets, smartphones). Our course concepts cover of all marketing activities related to persuading the end customer to purchase a company’s products at a physical retail outlet or store, and efficiently managing.
